High Court Gujarat Exam Pattern, Eligibility Criteria for Stenographer and Assistant / Junior Clerk Jobs:-

High Court of Gujarat is in the process of recruitment for English & Gujarati Stenographers (Grade – I & II) and Assistants / Junior Clerks in the subordinate courts of Gujarat. So, those candidates have applied for the vacancies and desirable for knowing its exam pattern, selection process can get the information easily by reading given below paragraph:-


Essential Educational Qualification:

For Stenographer (Grade-I & II) – Bachelor Degree in any subject from a recognized University.

Short Hand and Typing Skill for:

English Stenographer – 120 w/m of speed in English Short Hand and 40 w/m of speed in English Typing for Grade-I and 100 w/m of English short hand speed with 40 w/m of English typing speed for Grade-II.

Gujarati Stenographer – 90 w/m of speed of Gujarati Short Hand for Grade-I and 75 w/m for Grade-II with 25 w/m of Gujarati Typing speed are essential for both Grades.

For Assistant / Junior Clerk: Matriculation with 30 w/m of speed in English Typing or 25 w/m of speed in Gujarati Typing are essential.

Basic Knowledge of Computer Operation is needed for all above written posts.

Age Limit:

For Stenographer Jobs: Should be less than 35 years and more than 18 years.

For Assistant: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 25 years.

Selection procedure: Candidates are selected for the jobs on the basis of written examination, practical / skill tests and interview.

Exam Pattern: For the recruitment, competitive examination will be conducted by High Court of Gujarat. The competitive test shall consist of 100 marks of objective type written test, 50 marks of skill / practical test and 50 marks of viva-voce test / interview.

Pattern of written examination:

In this test, language of question paper will be English and Gujarati and 02 hours of total time allotted for 100 multiple choice questions. There is negative marking as well as 0.33 marks will be cut for every wrong answer.

  • General Knowledge
  • Gujarati Language
  • Arithmetic
  • Indian History and Geography
  • Current Affairs
  • Basics of computer applications
  • Sports
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • Mental Ability etc.

Those candidates secure at least 50 marks (Gen) and 45 marks (SC/ST/SEBC/PH candidates) in the written examination will be called for skill / practical test.

For Junior Clerk / Assistant Job:

written test qualified candidates will have to appear in the skill test on computer either in English or Gujarati as the case may be.

Those candidates will have to secure at least 40% marks in the practical test will qualify for Interview.

Candidates are informed; they must secure minimum 40% marks in the Interview for being suitable for inclusion in the select list for appointment as Assistant / Junior Clerk / Stenographer.

The final merit list will be based on aggregate marks obtained in written examination, skill test and Interview. So, all candidates who are going to appear in the competitive examination are needed to secure not only minimum qualifying marks but also maximum marks in each test for final selection.
