Special Class Railway Apprentices
SCRA is an entrance examination that hires applicants for mechanical engineering in Indian Railways. Cracking this entrance examination is not an easy task. Applicants from all over India apply for this job. SCRA examination is held mainly by conducting two different sets of selection procedure. The first set is written test and the second set of selection is personal interview. The question paper will consist of objective type questions. The question paper will be set in English only. Applicants should keep in mind that there is penalty (negative marking) for wrong answers. Last year’s cut off marks was approximately 62%. The answers should be marked correctly so that the applicant should not loose marks. Applicants are strictly prohibited to use calculators.
Written Examination Pattern
Total marks allotted are 600 marks. There are three papers in the written examination, Paper I, Paper II and Paper III. Each paper will carry 200 marks respectively.
Paper I comprises of General Ability Test (Code 01) which includes English, General Knowledge and Psychological Test. Time given for this test is 2 hours and total marks allotted for this test are 200 marks.
Paper II is of Physical Sciences that includes Physics and Chemistry (Code 02). This paper is of 2 hours and time allotted is two hours.
Paper III is Mathematics paper (Code 03). Time allotted is 2 hours and marks allotted are 200 marks.
Applicants who qualify in the written examination are called for the second round. A panel of members will be there who will question the applicant. The applicants’ qualities of leadership, curiosity, mental capacity, physical energy etc are examined by the board of members.
