VITEEE Exam Pattern, How to Prepare, Eligibility, How to Apply, Syllabus

What is VITEEE?

Among the top ranking universities of India Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) is one, which conducts a test for the engineering students known as Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEE).

Who can Apply?

The candidate who have 60% marks in their class 12 examinations, and have Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as the main subjects can apply for the test.

The minimum marks for the ST/SC candidates and the candidates coming from Jammu & Kashmir & from the North Eastern States of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh is 50%.

PCM candidates can apply for any programs offered by the VIT but the PCB candidates can apply only for B.Tech, Bio informatics, and Biotechnology & Biomedical Engineering programs.

What is the procedure for Applying in VITEEE?

The applicants can get the forms from the institute as well as they can download the forms from the website, there are two modes for applying i.e., Online & Offline.

How to apply online?

 A demand draft of Rs. 750/- drawn at VIT , Payable at Vellore must be kept ready by the applicants before logging on to the website for the online submission, after entering the proper details the candidates gets VIT – ID. After filling up the form the candidate must take a print out and affix a photograph and get it signed by the parents and also get the form attested. Both the form and the DD must be posted to VIT.

How to apply Offline?

For applying offline, the applicants can collect the forms from the post offices by paying Rs. 750, and after filling up the form it can be send to the VIT. The candidates can directly submit their forms to the Institute before the last date.

Note: For both the modes of applying the applicants must keep the photocopies of the DD and the FORMS, before posting it to the VIT for future reference.

What is the pattern of Question?

The exam is consisted of four parts,

Part – I Physics.

Part – II Chemistry.

Part – III Mathematics.

Part – IV Biology.

  • The candidates applying for VIT ENGINEERING need to attempt Part I, II, III and the candidate applying for BIO- MEDICAL need to attempt Part I, II, IV. The candidate who has PCMB in their class XII can attempt Part I, II, III or Part I, II, IV respectively.
  • The test does not have any negative markings.
  • Total no. of questions is 120 i.e., each part contains 40 questions carrying one mark each.

Atomic Physics, Communication Systems, Current Electricity, Dual Nature of Radiation And Matter – Relativity, Effects Of Electric Current, Electromagnetic Induction And Alternating Current, Electromagnetic Waves And Wave Optics, Electrostatics, Nuclear Physics, Semiconductor Devices And Their Applications .


Alcohols And Ethers, Carbonyl Compounds, Carboxylic Acids, Chemical Equilibrium And Chemical Kinetics, Coordination Chemistry, D and F-Block Elements, Electrochemistry, Organic Nitrogen Compounds, Solid State, Thermodynamics.


Analytical Geometry,  Complex Numbers & Trigonometry, Differential Calculus, Differential Equations, Discrete Mathematics, Integral Calculus and Its Applications ,Methods Of Integration Standard Types, Matrices and Determinants, Probability Distributions, Theory of Equations, Sequence and Series, Vector Algebra


Applied Biology And Human Welfare, Cell Biology, Ecology And Environment, Evolution, Genetics, Human Physiology, Microbiology And Immunology, Molecular Biology And Biotechnology, Plant Physiology, Taxonomy Of Living Organisms.

 What are the Dates to be remembered?

  • The date of examination is 3rd week of April, 2012
  • Application forms are available from 2nd to 3rd week December of , 2011
  • Result will be declared on 1st week of May, 2012
  • The classes will commence from 1st week July of , 2012
  • Last date for receiving the application is last week of February, 2012

What is the Duration of the Examination?

The duration of examination is 2hrs 30 mins. , the timing is from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm.

What are the Examination Fees?

The forms are available at Rs. 750/- and again Rs. 30,000/- is needed at the time of Counseling.

Does Scholarships Available at VIT University?

Yes, the institute offers scholarship of Rs. 25000/- to the top 50 candidates

The candidates with the first rank in their State Board Examinations are selected for the B.Tech. Degree Program, and are offered fee waiver for the first year and a waiver of Rs.25, 000/- per year from the 2nd year onwards.
